Living in Wales / Silver Gelatin Exhibition Prints, 1995 – 2003

This is a full set of silver gelatin exhibition prints from ‘Living In Wales’ a series of black and White portraits of people who, in the words of David Hurn ‘have enriched my life and that of Wales’. The subjects range from famous and distinguished figures in the fields of science, business, the arts, sport, the law, health, media, politics, and religion. As well as individuals who in less public ways have made great contributions to the fabric of Wales such as; ice-cream makers, publicans, chimney sweeps, restaurateurs. And on a more personal note, there are residents of David’s home village of Tintern, and people whom he has met on his travels around the country.

Each of the sitters answer the same short set of questions about themself and their relationship to Wales. All of the prints in the collection are window mounted with these short interviews included on the front of each mount. In addition to the prints, there is a complete set of correspondence letters between David Hurn and the subjects photographed.

94 silver gelatin, window mounted, prints – 64 x 55cm
