‘The River Winter’ documents and follows the passage of the 2011 winter along the banks of the river Exe, Devon. Jem Southam documented the subtle agencies of change transforming the landscape throughout the season, returning to the river at regular intervals over a five month period.
The shift in seasons is presented through a sequence of ten by eight colour contact prints, accompanied by an essay by Richard Hamblyn.
