Portraits in a Chinese Studio presents the images from Grace Lau's 2005 pop-up portrait studio on Hastings seafront.

Over the course of six weeks, Lau made 400 photographs exploring the way we see ourselves and the way we are seen. Welcoming in all passers by to have their photograph taken, the resulting domument touches upon place, race, community and the passing of time.

Everyone who posed received a free digital print of their portrait.
