Craig Atkinson / Café Royal Books in Conversation

Coinciding with the next MPF exhibition, Craig Atkinson will be joined by Martin Parr to talk about the history of Café Royal Books. They'll discuss zine production and publishing, from the process of selecting photographic work, to design and sequencing images, to producing CRB's affordable and accessible zines. They'll also take a look at what Craig has planned for the future of CRB moving forward. Followed by questions from the floor.

Join the conversation in the MPF gallery, set against the next MPF show - Café Royal Books. Documentary, Zines and Subversion - featuring 300 zines exhibited alongside 167 prints from work CRB has published.

Craig Atkinson founded Café Royal Books in 2005 and produces weekly publications focusing on post-war documentary photography linked to Britain and Ireland, in an accessible and affordable zine format. The series includes work by photographers from all backgrounds, from the widely-known such as Shirley Baker, Chris Killip, Markéta Luskacová, Martin Parr and Daniel Meadows, to those whose work has been either forgotten or previously excluded from the mainstream.

Please note, this event will not be streamed live via Zoom.

This event is part of our ongoing series sponsored by WEX Photo Video. The evening will take place in the MPF gallery. Doors will open at 6.30pm.
