Jem Southam
Artist Talk and Four Winters Book Launch

We’ve confirmed a new date for our upcoming event with photographer Jem Southam! This will now take place on 01 NOV 2022.

Jem will give an artist talk to launch his latest photobook – Four Winters, published by Stanley Barker, 2022 – followed by a book signing and a raffle to win a Jem Southam work print. We’ll also have a selection of prints from this work on display on a pop-up wall space in the MPF gallery.

Created over the past four years, Four Winters presents Jem’s photographs made across a short stretch of riverbank along the floodplain of the River Exe.

Each winter Jem created a fresh narrative and sequence of pictures as the dusk fades into darkness or as the light of dawn gathers. In the evenings, long past sunset, swans, geese and ducks arrive on the river to spend the night in safety. In the mornings the birds wake, preen, feed and socialise as they prepare for the new day.

Jem will be signing books after the talk.

TAKE HOME A JEM SOUTHAM PRINT
Jem has donated a one-off 12 x 16 inch signed work print in support of the Foundation, that will be won by one person attending the talk.

Everyone who has bought a ticket will get one entry into a raffle for the chance to win. The winning name will be drawn out of a hat at the end of the talk.

You can purchase up to 3 additional tokens and for each one you will have your name added to the draw an additional time, increasing your chances of winning the print. Each additional token costs £6.

For example, if you purchase one ticket and 2 extra tokens, your name will go into the draw 3 times.

All proceeds will help continue the work of the Foundation, supporting overlooked and emerging photographers and making photography engaging and accessible to all. Please note, you must attend the talk to qualify for the raffle.
