Cristina de Middel
Workshop

Magnum photographer Cristina De Middel will share her creative strategies for transforming initial ideas and concepts into photographic images. In this practice and theory based workshop, Cristina will focus on construction of visual narratives and the photobook as a tool to communicate.

Key phases of the creative process will be addressed, from conception to final decisions on exhibition vs. editorial form.

Participants will collectively produce a book dummy over the weekend.

With Cristina De Middel’s practice fitting both documentary and fiction, she’ll discuss the potential of photography to go beyond its traditional conceptions. Participants will gain an understanding of how a transgressive use of photography can reinforce narrative and establish authorship over work.

21.06.2019 pm – Cristina De Middel will give an informal talk about her creative practice, followed by dinner at the Foundation.

22.06.2019 – Participants will complete photographic assignments in the morning, followed by lunch at the Foundation. The images will be reviewed in the afternoon.

23.06.2019 – Participants will complete photographic assignments, and work collectively to produce a photobook dummy.

Dinner on Friday evening, and lunch on both Saturday and Sunday included.
