David Hurn
Artist talk and Book launch

Magnum Photos’ David Hurn will be joined by Martin Parr for a conversation to launch David’s new photobook in Bristol, David Hurn: Photographs 1955 – 2022, published by RRB Photobooks, 2023.

David and Martin will discuss David’s extensive career in photography, touching on this new publication, which draws from the David Hurn archives to chronicle his career over a period of over 65-years. David was known as a visual narrator of the social revolution of the 1950s-1960s, before undertaking numerous long-term projects photographing in America. His social documentary photography across Europe in the intervening years also shows his versatility, documenting where tradition and customs collided with modernity.

In making this new book, David revisited and re-evaluated previously overlooked photographs with the benefits of time and experience. The lesser-seen photographs are published alongside some of his best-known works.

Followed by questions from the floor and a book signing.

This event is part of our ongoing series sponsored by WEX Photo Video.
