SOFA SESSIONS: CONVERSATIONS WITH MARTIN PARR
Nan Levy

The daughter of British social documentary photographer Shirley Baker – Nan Levy – joins Martin Parr in this instalment of Sofa Sessions. Nan shares memories of being allowed to join her mother in the darkroom when she was a child, as well as being taken along to the country shows that Shirley Baker is famous for documenting. Nan and Martin also discuss Baker’s recognition for her practice within the wider photography industry and the current work Nan is doing with Shirley’s archive, including producing books and exhibitions.

Shirley Baker’s photobook Dog Show 1961 – 1978 is available from the shop.

Examples of Shirley’s work can be seen on her website here.
