Photographer Tim Richmond will give an MPF artist talk on the making and evolution of his photobook Love Bites 2014-2020, published by Loose Joints, 2022.
Photographing along a twenty-mile stretch of one of the world's longest coastal mudflats, Tim encounters those attempting to find meaning and pleasure within small-town England. Beneath photographs of food banks, punks, pleasure arcades, swingers’ clubs, shelters and new-build houses, Tim finds a waning unease to his subjects: a listless microcosm of post-austerity, post-Brexit Britain.
'To a small section of the Bristol Channel - a love letter' - Tim Richmond
After traveling thousands of miles for his previous book, Last Best Hiding Place, Tim limited Love Bites to a twenty mile length of the Bristol Channel, near his home.
'I rediscovered my preference for working/living in the same area. I revisited places and people time after time. Influenced by filmmaking, for Love Bites I wanted to maintain a consistent colour palette for the project by only making photographs in cloudy and drizzly conditions.' - Tim Richmond
The talk will be followed by questions from the floor and a book signing, where copies of Love Bites will be available from MPF Bookshop.
