Diana Markosian will give an MPF artist talk on her latest photobook – Father, published by Aperture/Atelier EXB, 2024 – during one of her rare visits to the UK.

Father narrates Diana’s journey of reconnection with her estranged father, expressed through a mix of documentary photographs, family snapshots and archival material.

Based in New York, Diana is travelling to Europe for the opening of an exhibition of Father at FOAM, Amsterdam, and will visit the Foundation to give an artist talk during this trip.

Diana was born in Moscow to separated parents, before relocating at the age of seven with her mother, eventually settling in America. Once in California her mother sought to remove even the image of Diana’s Father from their lives by cutting his picture out of family photographs. This body of work is a statement on the universality of familial loss and attempted reconnection.

The talk will be followed by questions from the floor and a book signing, where copies of Father will be available from MPF bookshop.

Father will be on display at FOAM’s gallery in Amsterdam from 07 MAR to 28 MAY 2025.
