Coinciding with the launch of her new photobook – Lost Summer – Alys Tomlinson will discuss her creative practice in the next MPF Photochat Live event. Alys has just been awarded the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize for three images from this series. The Foundation will have signed copies of Lost Summer in the MPF online shop for the event.
She will touch upon combining personal projects with commissioned work before sharing her most recent projects. Alys is interested in the relationship between people and place, working on long-term projects that explore environment, identity and belonging.
Projects she will discuss include ‘Lost Summer’, her latest project about the 2020 proms that never happened, ‘Ex-Voto’, a five year exploration of Christian pilgrimage sites, and ‘Mother Vera’, her Sundance-funded documentary feature film.
