MPF PLEDGES

Further to our statement dated 11 June the Trustees of the Martin Parr Foundation issue the following pledges:

– to expand the Trustee Board through an open and democratic process.
– to increase our programme of underrepresented artists, across our exhibitions and events.
– to create paid opportunities for a diverse range of emerging talent, through a new bursary scheme.
– to amplify the voices of underrepresented artists and curators with a new exhibition Open Call initiative.
– to expand the MPF Collection with work from Black, Asian, minority ethnic and other underrepresented photographers.
– to increase our local, grassroots programming in partnership with Bristol community groups.
– to provide diversity and inclusion training for all staff and associates of MPF.

The Martin Parr Foundation was originally launched by Martin Parr in 2017 as a space for British photography, with an emphasis on the legacy of Parr’s work and personal collection of photography. The collection continues to expand and we understand there are many omissions that we must actively seek to address. Such omissions will also be addressed within our programming. We need to work more collaboratively and engage a wider range of voices. Our aim is to create a fair, democratic and open space for British photography to flourish.

We have updated our mission statement in accordance with these aims and we welcome constructive contributions to this continuing, and essential, conversation.
